Shoot Manager
Position details & Requirements

Border Studios is currently seeking a "Shoot Manager" based on the Gold Coast, QLD.

The role:

You would be responsible for administrative and customer service tasks at school, child care and kindy portrait shoots across the Gold Coast.

Main duties include, but not limited to:

  • Recording file names and notes next to children's names using a spreadsheet application and touch screen device

  • Tracking which children need to be photographed, based on their days of attendance, orders and other information

  • Liaising with educators to ensure all children are photographed in an efficient time frame

  • Provide information to educators and families regarding package information and payment details

  • Recording order details

  • Some cash handling (providing change, and accepting payments)

  • Occasional use of mobile electronic point of sale apps (PayPal Here & Square)

  • Assist photographer with set up and pack up of mobile studio equipment


Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills

  • Experience using touch screen tablet (Samsung) and basic computer skills

  • Friendly, outgoing nature and ability to be assertive.

  • Ability to talk to children and build rapport

  • Neat, professional appearance.

  • Ability to problem solve and work flexibly with families, children & educators

  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail

  • Previous childcare experience highly regarded but not essential

  • Previous photography experience highly regarded but not essential

  • Experience with Google applications (especially Sheets, Calendar & Keep) highly regarded

  • Own transport ESSENTIAL. Public transport is often not available at the required times/locations, so your own reliable transport is required.

Working Hours

This position is causal, seasonal. Hours are generally 3 hour minimum shifts, occasionally (rarely)running up to 4 hours. Start times are usually 8:15am (occasionally 7:45am), usually finishing around 11am. Working days are usually Tuesday-Friday, occasionally Monday-Friday. We aim to provide 4 or 5 days work in each week, although this is dependent on bookings and workload. We do not shoot during School Holidays. This work is seasonal each year, running mostly from April-November, with no work over the Summer months, and sometimes minimal hours during March.

There may also be opportunities for weekend shifts for the right candidate.


Most work will be around the central and Northern Gold Coast, with occasional jobs in Tweed and Northern NSW or parts of the southern Gold Coast. There may also be occasional jobs in the Logan or Brisbane areas, however travel compensation would be paid for these jobs.
